I'm Not Dead

I just wanted to throw out there that this page isn't dead.

There's been a lot going on since last post, which was what, like a year ago?

I'm wrapping up the degree next month, finally walking and getting the paper saying that I am fully instructed as a "Film" person. At least to the bachelor's level.

I've been working on and developing a few writing projects that will likely never see the light of day but there are some cool ideas in the works.

I've also been working a little bit on musical ideas, we've had some guys come through our apartment the past few months and we've sort of just been messing around. We tried using this method to start a band at the end of the fall but our singer moved back to NY and things sort of fell apart from there. Thinking about recording some candid stuff, sort of just shooting on the fly. Been working a little bit on visual styles, might make some kind of a trippy abstract music video out of the whole experience.

I'll try to keep up to date as things happen, things have just been fully hectic. I just got the external hard drive back up and running, however, so my editing machine is finally 100% put back together, which is exciting and opens up a lot of prospects. We'll just have to see where it goes.

Other things in the works as well, but nothing that should be talked about right this second. I'll be back, don't worry.

An Update 2 Years in the Making!

Dear blog,

Fret not. I never forgot about you. You were always in the back of my mind, creeping up into my subconscious on those long cold nights. You were always there waiting for me, anxiously, patiently, waiting for any news of what has been happening in my world. Patiently you waited, gathering electronic dust on a server somewhere, waiting to be accessed, waiting to be updated. I'm so sorry, blog. Today is your day.

Finally, I got around to updating. I realized one day that I had all these things I could put up and just never really did. Nothing special, just an assortment of little projects and whatnot. Enjoy. Or don't. Whatever, just watch them.

Sooo, It's Been A While, Huh Guys

So there is a very good reason there's been no posts (I've been checking my webtracker and I'm humbled and amazed that people ACTUALLY come and check out my site). There's been a job crunch in Casa de LJ and I was forced to leave town and go back to my hometown to rebuild the dike (that's spelled with an "i", thank you). As an unfortunate side effect, my editing machine is 2 hours away, and I never get time to go back up and use it.
I'll be returning to my beautiful abode later this month, where this site will be back up and running, hopefully with more updates than you can shake a stick at. (Don't try, LCD monitors are not known for being stick-friendly).

Tasty! Something New!

Point your Firefoxes Explorers and Net..scapes... to YouTizzle and you'll see a little piece of ridiculousness that I found lying amongst my files. Andrew Johnstone, the illegitimate semi-father of Smoking the Bandit Productions, and the co-webmaster of a now-on-permanent-leave Website called granpaturtle.tk along with yours truly and a number of good friends, is playing a little ditty on bass and I'm smacking some drums in the audio track, back in both of our now reasonably defunct musical careers' infancies. 10 points to anyone who can wade their way through that sentence. The video's possibly way too dark to watch, this is actually a copy I re-edited and did my best to clean up. The idea is we're beating someone who owes us money. See if you can tell what we're beating.

An Unititled Music Video from Tyco Brahe, the band that "only kinda" ever was.

I haven't had a chance to finish cleaning up some other stuff I found laying around, but when I do, trust me, you'll get a chance to see them, whether you really want to or not.
Also, I've got some original footage to edit a music video out of, and I'm working on doing some dumb editing projects that will also be musically-inclined. I'll be posting all of them here, hoping that I don't get harrassed by lawyers of the owners of the properties that I will be violating to suit my creative desires. These may or may not include ABC or the Australian Film Commission. But honestly, who's actually gonna watch them anyway?

My First Fully Produced Short Film

It's not winning any Oscars, but to me it holds an immutable sentimental value.

These all link off to my YouTube account. There's hi- and lo- bandwidth for Mac and Windows. We're equal opportunity here.

Hopefully there will be things soon to pale this by comparison of entertainment quality, but for now, the next post is going to be whatever I find sitting on my hard drive from years gone by. We'll see how that goes.

Orientation

This is the first post of the new blog for Smoking the Bandit Productions. It's still under construction, I'll be posting past projects as soon as I can get them uploaded, so I'll let you know when that goes down. There's only one real film finished, and I'll be posting whatever minor video clips and whatnot I find that I've slapped together along the way in one lump update. Primarily, this is going to be where I post anything new that comes from Smoking the Bandit as they're made. Hopefully, they actually will be made. Money's tight, so when you see that little donate now button from paypal, click it, and send me money. Or click the links above as they pop up. Somehow, they will make me richer beyond my wildest dreams. Well I think that's all for orientation. Go forth and prosper, and don't forget to COME BACK.
